FAQ
About Batsu Battle
What is Batsu Battle?
Batsu Battle is a fast, funny family card game where players race to get rid of all their cards while using action cards to attack, reset, skip, burn and disrupt each other.
It is easy to learn, quick to play, and designed for families who want a proper game-night laugh without needing a long rulebook.
What does “Batsu” mean?
“Batsu” is a Japanese word often linked with penalties, forfeits or getting something wrong. In Batsu Battle, it gives the game its cheeky “penalty card game” feel.
The game is about playful chaos, not serious punishments. It is family-friendly and designed to be fun, light-hearted and silly.
Is Batsu Battle suitable for children?
Yes. Batsu Battle is designed for ages 8 and up.
Younger children may be able to play with help from an adult or older sibling, especially once they understand the action cards. The rules are simple, but there is enough strategy and surprise to keep older kids and adults involved too.
Is it fun for adults as well as kids?
Yes. Batsu Battle was designed as a family game first, but it is not just for children.
The game works well because adults can enjoy the tactics, timing and chaos, while kids enjoy the action cards, surprises and big comeback moments. It is a good choice for family game night, holidays, after dinner, or a quick game before bedtime.
How many people can play?
Batsu Battle is for 2–5 players.
It works well as a quick two-player game, but the chaos really builds when more players join in.
How long does a game take?
Most games take around 5–15 minutes.
Because the rounds are short, Batsu Battle is easy to replay. It is the kind of game where people often say, “one more round.”
What is inside the box?
Each box contains a complete Batsu Battle card deck and rules.
The deck includes number cards and action cards such as Attack, Reset, Burn, Skip-a-go, Lower than 5 and Wild.
Is it easy to learn?
Yes. Most players can learn the basics in a few minutes.
The aim is simple: get rid of your cards. On your turn, you play a card equal to or higher than the previous card, or use an action card to change the game. Once you understand the action cards, the game becomes quick, tactical and chaotic.
Is it good for travel?
Yes. Batsu Battle is compact, quick to play and easy to pack, so it is great for holidays, weekends away, family visits, cafés, rainy days and travel bags.
You only need the deck and a small amount of table space.
How to Play
What is the aim of the game?
The aim is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards.
You start with cards in your hand, cards face up in front of you, and cards face down. Once the draw pile is gone, you work through your table cards. The final face-down cards are played blind, which is where the biggest surprises happen.
What do the action cards do?
Action cards create the chaos in Batsu Battle.
Attack can put pressure on another player. Reset lets you restart the pile. Burn clears the pile and gives you another turn. Skip-a-go makes another player miss a turn. Lower than 5 changes what can be played next. Wild lets you choose an action.
The exact rules are included in the box.
Can we play with our own house rules?
Definitely.
Batsu Battle is designed to be quick and flexible. Once you know the rules, you can easily create your own family variations, forfeits or special challenges.
Just keep it fun, fair and family-friendly.
