About Us

Martyn and Marie from Space Mochi Games

Hi, we are Martyn and Marie, the father-daughter team behind Space Mochi Games.

We're an independent family card game company based in the East of Scotland. We started in the most familiar place possible: around the kitchen table with family, trying to find a game that everyone actually wanted to play.

Like many families, we love game nights, but we often found ourselves choosing between games that felt too childish or games that were clearly designed only for adults. We wanted something in the middle: quick to learn, fun for kids, and still genuinely entertaining for grown-ups.

So we decided to make our own.

Batsu Battle began as a home project: sketching ideas, testing rules, and playing countless rounds with family and friends. We set out to create a fast-paced family card game that is easy to learn but full of laughter, luck, and dramatic comebacks.

The name Batsu comes from the Japanese word for a punishment: that moment when things go wrong and you have to deal with it. That idea of playful chaos became the heart of the game.

What We Care About

At Space Mochi Games, we believe great family games should be:

  • Inclusive: fun across ages, not just aimed at one group
  • Quick: easy to start, easy to replay
  • Well Designed: clear rules, thoughtful artwork, and a premium feel
  • Playful: a little mischievous, never mean-spirited

A Small Team with a Big Ambition

Space Mochi Games is still small, and proudly so. Every game is made with care, tested properly, and refined through real play before it ever reaches a wider audience.

Our long-term aim is to create a growing collection of beautiful, replayable family games that people return to again and again. Batsu Battle is just the beginning.

Thanks for Playing

Whether you're playing with kids, friends, or a mix of both, we hope our games bring a little more laughter to your table.

And if you ever find yourself picking up the pile...

Well, that's a Batsu.
